>Offered here for your consideration is an old and original 1976 University of Indiana Hoosiers vs. North Carolina State Wolfpack football game Presentation Blanket for N.C. State head coach BO REIN!! Please see all six photos, as they are an important part of my item description. This impressive presentational blanket for first-year coach Bo Rein measures approximately  48" x 35". This woolen blanket is deep red, with white woolen trim. All of the letting and numbers are fancily embroidered onto the blanket. The University of Indiana interlocking letters are thick embroidered letters, much like the ones you would see on a letterman's jacket. The blanket commemorates a football game between the Hoosiers and the North Carolina State Wolfpack played on Oct. 2, 1976 in Bloomington, Indiana. The N.C. State coach's name is embroidered onto the blanket and reads: Robert "Bo" Rein.  <>Now, here's the mystery: this is an Indiana Hoosiers blanket, with their school letters sewn onto the blanket...but I haven't been able to solve why the NC State coach's name is present on the blanket. This was Bo Rein's first season as head coach for the Wolfpack, and an early game vs. Indiana in his career there. Rein spent four seasons coaching in Raleigh, North Carolina and then left to become head coach for the LSU Tigers, but was tragically killed in an aircraft accident in January, 1980 before he ever coached a game for the Tigers. The blanket may have been given to Rein by the host school (Indiana), for reasons unknown to me. Any further info. about this rare, one-of-a-kind presentation blanket would be most welcome....

     >History: Bo Rein (Robert Rein) was an American football and baseball player and football coach. He was a two-sport athlete at The Ohio State University and served as the head football coach at North Carolina State University from 1976-1979, compiling a record of 27-18-1. Following the 1979 season, Rein had assumed the role as head coach at Louisiana State University, but was killed in a plane crash in January, 1980 before ever coaching a game for the Tigers. Rein is the namesake of football player awards at both Ohio State and NC State. Rein was a stellar athlete, competing for the Ohio State Buckeyes in baseball and helped them win the 1966 College World Series. After college, he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians, and played for the Pacific Coast League Portland Beavers (injuries prevented him from pursuing a baseball career). From 1964-66, Rein was a three-year starter at halfback for Ohio State. Rein finished his career for the Buckeyes the team career receptions leader; he was then drafted by the Baltimore Colts. Said one of his teammates: "He wasn't the biggest guy, but pound for pound he was as tough as they come". A continuing tradition at Ohio State is that at the end of every season, the team votes to award one teammate the "Bo Rein Most Inspirational Player Award". Following every season, the NC State football team awards the "Bo Rein Award" to a player that makes a vital contribution in an unsung role.
