This Pha Yant (Temple Cloth) shows the Buddhist Monk Luang Phor Koon from Wat Ban Rai Temple, Nakhon Ratchasima.
Luang Phor Koon is a Grand Master monk in Thailand who everyone knows about. He is famous for his blessing by gently knocking the devotees head with a soft stick. Amulets made by him are said to have miraculous powers and he has followers all around the world. Besides dhamma (The teachings / truth of Buddha) and sammahdti,( A state of intense concentration achieved through meditation. In Hindu yoga this is regarded as the final stage, at which union with the divine is reached). Luang Phor Kong also taught Luang Phor Koon Wicha (Buddhist magic arts).
Luang Phor Koon will personally meet the all the devotees who go to Wat Ban Rai Temple and will bless them whether they are rich or poor. These Temple plaques - amulets were originally made to be buried beneath temples and many have been found inside large Buddha statues. The reason they were often placed inside large Buddha statues is they were thought of as ‘Storage batteries of Buddhist energy’. A single Temple plaque or a few Temple plaques inside a large statue gave the statue more powerful energy.
