CHRISTOPHE LEROUX "RADIO" HAND SIGNED ARTIST PROOF # 5/12 INDUSTRIAL ART PRINT 20" X 14" LITHOGRAPH

This eBay listing is for a really cool industrial art print by Christophe Leroux (French, Born 1964) that is hand signed in pencil on the bottom.   The bottom is all signed in pencil with the following: 5/12 e/c "RADIO" 2000 and his signature.  This piece features a RADIO at the bottom (hence why its titled as such) with a red arrow, start and black squares w/ white dots.   This comes framed under glass.   The size of the frame noted above is rounded sizes...the actual size of the frame is 20 1/2" tall by 13 7/8" across by 1.75" wide.     There are a few minor marks on the frame from use.   I was told this is considered to be a lithograph but not being an art expert and knowing little about artwork in general - I'm not 100% sure.    There was no paperwork found on the back and I didn't take this out of the frame to see if its under the backing.    I'll have a few other pieces by this artist on Ebay at this time that I just picked up from a local art collector's estate.   If you have any questions, please just let me know and I'll do my best to answer them for you!!

I found the following online about this artist:

Incorporating both sculpture and painting into his work, Christophe Leroux navigates seemingly contrasting visual terrains. Starting with flat, unused sheets of aluminum, he crumples and bends, which serves as a surface for his mixed-media pieces, Leroux alludes to the industrial and urban. His imagery consists of an original combination of undulating, expressionistic lines, sumptuously rippling metal, and stenciled text, numerals, and graphics that evoke urban and industrial references. By juxtaposing a more painterly style with rote street-art insignias, the work creates an unexpected dialogue between divergent aesthetic approaches.

Leroux’s harmonious compositions belie their use of modern materials and choice of mediums: metal wall sculptures and paintings on paper. His aesthetic is characterized by ordered layering where colors occupy prominent boundaries, occasionally blending through progressive mechanized copper, zinc and aluminum printing. Often made from materials that are manipulated to reflect color and light, his works are cited by scholarly texts (e.g. the work of Peter Frank) as imparting the belief that an artist is a reflection of society. Leroux’s use of handmade stencils symbolizes his inclination to follow in the path of urbanity. The incorporation of language into his work, via geometrical considerations, not only comments on industrialization and urbanization, but globalization as well. -  Sonce Alexander Gallery
