This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Cheongsan-ri, which gave our people a big victory under the 35-year Japanese colonial rule.

The Post Office issues commemorative stamps to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the victory of the Battle of Cheongsan-ri, the largest battle in history by independent forces against Japanese troops.

Starting with the March 1st Movement in 1919, the independent army carried out more active activities at the border of the Tuman River and the Yalu River.
In particular, the Independent Army launched an entry operation into the country from the second half of 1919, and in 1920, it formed the "Korean North Korean Dokgun" to unite independent military organizations in the North Gando region while supporting the temporary government.
The battle that took place immediately after that was the Battle of Bongo-dong, which won the battle against the Japanese on June 7, 1920. After losing the Battle of Bongo-dong, Japan planned a large-scale military mobilization along with diplomatic efforts to pressure Manchuria's warlords to eliminate Manchuria's independent forces.
In September, Japan organized an incident in which a witch attacked a Japanese consulate in Hunchun and dispatched troops to Manchuria, a Chinese land, in justification.
In order to avoid head-to-head confrontations with the Japanese military and stock up on military power, the Independent Army was divided into "Northern Military Sentiment Army" and "Hong Beom-do Alliance Unit" and prepared measures to leave Bukgando Island and move toward Baekdusan Mountain.
When Japanese cavalry chased the independent army, which was moving toward Baekdusan Mountain at the time, the independent army fought in Cheongsan-ri, avoiding a head-on confrontation with the Japanese army.
The first battle was the Battle of Baegunpyeong, which was fought and won by Kim Jwa-jin's North Road Army on October 21, 1920. And on October 22, in the battle of Eorangchon, which was the biggest battle in the Battle of Cheongsan-ri, the North Ro Army Jeongseo-gun collaborated with the Japanese army and the allied unit led by Hong Beom-do.
From then on until the dawn of October 26, the Allied Forces led by General Hong Beom-do and General Kim Jwa-jin's North Road Military Military Military Military Corps fought separately or joined forces to win all 10 battles, and were able to stock up on the basic military power of the independent forces.
The six-day Battle of Cheongsan-ri is actually recorded as the biggest victory in the history of the Korean independence movement and the "great battle."
