My wife has had this frame on her truck for about a year and through the extremes of weather, including 100+ degree heat in the summer, it has shown absolutely no signs of wear. The colors     seem to stay their original shades with no fading and the chrome plating has not cracked. Considering the low price here, as-compared to the on-campus prices, I recommend getting this one for your plates.
