About the Book

Bokks about Modern Greek History begin with the achievement of independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1828, following the Greek War of Independence. In 1912 the Balkan League, which included Greece, declared war on the Ottoman Empire. Greece maintained neutrality during World War I, but fought the Greco-Turkish War (1919-22) following the Ottoman Empire's collapse. The country was occupied by Nazi Germany in World War 2, and suffered a civil war afterwards.
