Antique Candle Box, Original Apple Green Paint, Slide Cover
Lid
This is a handsome
candle or storage box with its original apple green paint with a slide cover
lid. The paint is quite old and there are scruffs on the edges and appropriate
wear. The box is constructed with small old square nails.. Two hand carved
finger slots in slide lid for sliding to open and close and the lid runs smoothly
on its carved out tracks. Lids edges are chamfered with a symmetrical sloping edge. so sliding is easy.
Found in Maine. Traces
of red paint under apple green paint.

This candle box
measures 9"L x 4-3/4"W x 3-1/2 H.
CONDITION
This candle box is
in great antique condition with age appropriate wear, some authentic wear marks
throughout and use that is expected with age. Clean and painted interior. No
odor or oil stain. There is one area of damage to the box top - a 1-1/2"
piece of wood is missing, and one 2-1/4” piece of wood missing on bottom with
few age cracks, either due to a break or shrinkage. Remember antique have age
wear etc., they are not perfect.
Antique items can rarely be described as perfect, by the nature of the
fact that they are 100+ years old and there are usually some signs of wear
commensurate with age and use.
Our antiques are collectible and are not new and not
reproductions, and have lived a long and eventful life and sometimes developing
flaws. Therefore, use and
wear should be expected with these items, unless stated in description. We
do not clean or alter unless stated in listing, and most times have been in
storage for many decades picking up old age storage oxidation spots.
