    • Luminosity, cast in three extended movements, is the latest and most ambitious work I have written for wind ensemble, following and the mountains rising nowhere (1977), From a Dark Millennium (1980), In evening’s stillness … (1996) and Recoil (2004). Movement I (Spiritoso e energico) and III (Grande e con forza) exploit each of the wind, brass and percussion choirs while Movement II (Misterioso) is a slow movement that takes the form of a mini-concerto for solo clarinet.     Nach and the mountains rising nowhere (1977), From a Dark Millennium (1980), In evening’s stillness … (1996) und Recoil (2004) ist Luminosity mein jüngstes und aufwändigstes Werk für Bläserensemble. Der erste und dritte Satz geben allen Bläsergruppen Raum zur Entfaltung, während der zweite, langsame Satz eine Art kleines Konzert für Soloklarinette ist. Joseph Schwantner
