This is a brand-new, gift-quality, red and blue ‘Wolverine’ fridge magnet manufactured by Polar Magnetics in 1998 as part of their “Funky Chunky” series. The packaging shows some wear-and-tear, and the magnet may have come loose from the backing (see picture).
Wolverine (commonly known as Logan) is a Marvel Comics superhero and a member of several teams, including the X-Men and the New Avengers. Created by writer Len Wein and artist John Romita, Sr., Wolverine first appeared in “Incredible Hulk” #180-181 (October 1974). “X-Men” writer Chris Claremont played a significant role in the character’s subsequent development. A mutant, Wolverine possesses animal-keen senses, enhanced physical capabilities, and a healing factor that allows him to recover from virtually any wound. This healing ability enabled the supersoldier program Weapon X to bond the near unbreakable metal alloy adamantium to his skeletal system that includes razor-sharp retractable claws.
