*Lonsdaleite, named in honor of Mrs. Kathleen Lonsdale [Fig. 1] [1], originally describing the hexagonal form of
 carbon [2] and representing one of several forms of the carbon chain, including the diamond phases and the mineral graphite [Fig. 2]. In fact, Lonsdaleite's hexagonal crystal structure and chemical structure C; For these reasons it is also called the "hexagonal diamond".
This mineral was first discovered about 50 years ago in the iron meteorite Diablo Canyon; Its formation is attributed to the shock-induced transformation of graphite inside the meteorite upon impact with the Earth [3].
