Here is a good condition copy of "DOWN EAST, The Magazine of Maine", for APRIL, 1978, Volume XXIV, Number 8. This magazine is still in business, with a much larger distribution now than it had back in the 1970s! These older issues are getting hard to find nowadays.

This issue has a nice Cover picture, " Governmant Wharf, Kennebunk River, Kennebunkport " by artist  Roger W Ellenberger.

It has articles on     Henry Stover , Keeper of the clock in the steeple of the First Church of Belfast

Running Water as a Future Energy source (2 pages)

Restoring old dam sites (3 pages)

    Tidal Power (3 pages)

Ellsworth American Editor James Russell Wiggins (5 pages)

Rites of Spring  (2 page essay by Dale Rex Cannon)

9 Missing or Extinct Maine Species (6 pages)

    Amateur Genealogy (3 pages)

The Length and Breadth of Maine.....(with 6 pages of color photos) ,     recent Maine news and opinions,

plus lots of vintage Maine related advertisements.

This magazine measures about 8 1/2 by 11 inches, and has 108  pages. It is in good condition, with clean pages , tight binding, and a cover that has moderate  wear and wrinkling. There is a slight dogear fold on the upper right hand corner of the front cover and some minor spotting along the upper edge of the front cover, that does not show in the picture. Inside, this magazine looks like it was hardly read at all.

Great for the diehard Maine history / memorabilia collector! Buyer to pay media mail postage. Please check my other old Down East magazines, I will gladly combine multiple purchases to save you on postage. Thanks for looking!
