Federico Ovalles-Ar was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1972. He studied drawing, painting and sculpture at the Escuela de Arte Cristóbal Rojas and the Instituto de Artes Visuales Armando Reverón in Venezuela. In 1996 Ovalles-Ar moved to London for 6 years, where he studied drawing and painting at Westminster College; video art at Camberwell School of Art and art and computer science at Tower Hamlet College. In 2005 he presented the solo exhibition Karakas at Office #1.

In 2006 he received 1st place in the XI Salón CANTV de Jóvenes con FIA and participated in the group exhibition Anxiety of the Influence, Wight Biennial at the UCLA New Wight Gallery in Los Angeles. In 2007 he participated in the IX Biennial of Sculpture Francisco Narvaez in Margarita Island where he received an honorable mention. During 2008 he had a solo exhibition Area Typo at the Fernando Zubillaga Gallery in Caracas and participated in a group show presented by Office #1 at ArteBA in Buenos Aires; in Reflect/Refract at the Rich Gallery in London and in PINTA, Latin American Contemporary Art Fair in New York. During 2009 he participated in the exhibitions Visión Constructiva at GBG Arts in Caracas, Salida de Emergencia at Exis, Bogota and in Espacio Diverso with La Casa in Quito, Ecuador. In 2010 he was present in the Venezuelan Pavilion at the Shoe Gallery in London and in Friends at the Cometa Gallery in Bogota. During 2011 he was included in La Otra, at the Alternative Art Fair in Bogota. During 2012 he initiated the project Marginal Historiography of Venezuelan Art with other visual artists from Venezuela with presentations in various spaces in the city of Caracas. In 2013 he participated in a curatorial conception in Museable/ No Mueseable. In 2014 he was invited by curator José Roca to compete in individual projects for PArC in Lima where he received the award for the best proposal.  In May 2015 he obtained a residency at Casa Deux Soleils, Honda Colombia as winner of the PArC Scholarship and in June 2015 he presented his work at Flora Ars Natura gallery in Bogota.

Federico Ovalles-Ar nació en Caracas, Venezuela, en 1972. Estudió dibujo, pintura y escultura en la Escuela de Arte Cristóbal Rojas y en el Instituto de Artes Visuales Armando Reverón en Venezuela. En 2010 estuvo presente en el Pabellón de Venezuela en la Shoe Gallery de Londres y en Friends en la Galería Cometa de Bogotá. Durante 2011 fue incluido en La Otra, en la Feria de Arte Alternativo de Bogotá. Durante 2012 inició el proyecto Historiografía Marginal del Arte Venezolano con otros artistas visuales de Venezuela con presentaciones en diversos espacios de la ciudad de Caracas. En 2013 participó en una concepción curatorial en Museable/ No Mueseable. En 2014 fue invitado por el curador José Roca a concursar en proyectos individuales para PArC en Lima donde recibió el premio a la mejor propuesta.  En mayo de 2015 obtuvo una residencia en Casa Deux Soleils, Honda Colombia como ganador de la Beca PArC y en junio de 2015 presentó su trabajo en la galería Flora Ars Natura de Bogotá.
