Artist’s Main Feature: #The Prague-born professional artist ALENA ANTONOVÁ (1930–2021) had the long, prolific, and creative life of a Czech engraver and painter. Her professional education was from 1945 to 1955 under the strong influence of the famous professors Karel Tondl and Emil Filla. She opted unambiguously for her original method to strive from the start to express reality as she objectively saw or imagined it. Having as a main inspiration Filla’s Cubism she transformed it in her original way to create a new reality by breaking in pieces the shapes. Her main subjects were everyday still-life, a woman personage who she is like to display in her simple everyday activities (sleeping, reading letters, writing) or with combinations with her lovely cats or dogs, figures of lovers, and people talking. She had a membership in Hollar and participations in 250 exhibitions among them 35 were personal ones.

Subject: #It is a still life with a combination of things on the round table. There is a pipe, a box of matches, a newspaper Metro, and a teacup with a spoon. The still life shows the narrative power of the artist and her perfect feeling for the details. The work of art creates a romantic atmosphere penetrating lyric delicacy.
