*Note as of 25MAR2024: I am waiting on a new delivery of the roller components I use in production of the roller-handles. They should be in by the end of the week and have new roller handles assembled by early next week. When they are ready to ship I will update the listing quantitiy. Thanks for looking!*

New Iron Machine & Design LLC is proud to offer a long overdue upgrade for the Delta/Rockwell series of 14" and 11" drill presses: A ball-and-roller-handle down-feed attachment!

This new upgrade part installs on over the end of your existing down feed handle  without any permanent modification to your machine. With the roller handle attached it greatly increases ergonomics of operation: the operator's wrist is able to remain in a straight and comfortable angle through the entire range of motion as you feed the quill down, it greatly increases the feel of the machine during sensitive work, and aids operation of the slow-speed model by moving the hand to the outside away from the pulley guard where there is more clearance to operate.

This part works with all Delta/Rockwell 14" and 11" drill presses, a.k.a. the DP220 and Homecraft series presses, and will work with other makes and models of drill presses that use the same 7/16" diameter feed handle, such as some models of the earlier model Delta/Rockwell 15" drill presses.

Customize your setup:  Choose a single end or order a double end-combo. By purchasing a combo you receive a discount off the price of buying two ends separately. (My personal favorite setup is a roller and plain ball end combo).

Material - The body of the attachments are made of polycarbonate, the same polymer used in high strength applications such as ballistic safety glass with a metal roller handle threaded in. The roller handle attachment is locked firmly in place on the down feed handle using non-marring brass set screws that resist the torque loads applied during normal drilling operations in metal and wood.

Fit - Each one of these ends has the down-feed handle hole hand reamed to .001" under to allow a press fit onto the down-feed handle. Additionally, each threaded hole for the set screws is hand tapped to ensure accuracy and alignment of the brass et screws.

Inspiration for This Product -This project started after I restored the 1937 Delta 14-inch "Triple Duty" (a.k.a the DP220) shown in the photos. I was so greatly impressed with the quality and precision in this piece of American "Old Iron" compared to the overseas import junk I was using in the shop that I quickly set about ditching the import stuff I was using and replacing them with more vintage Delta presses: the slow-speed floor model and 11" Homecraft drill presses that also feature in the product photos. However, there was one thing that I found lacking compared to those newer/import machines: the (lack of) ergonomics on the simple plain shaft of the down feed handle. I wanted to create an upgrade part that addressed this particular shortcoming but at the same time would not require any permanent alterations, as we are all only temporary custodians of machines like this anyway.

ABOUT US: Here at New Iron Machine & Design LLC we have a passion for the "Old Iron" machines that were used by skilled craftsmen when it was just expected things would be made in America - and made to last. With many of our machines decades old or older, it is only natural that even the best of machines will inevitably require replacement parts and upgrades to keep running for decades more to come. Our philosophy is based on the idea of "New Iron": the combination of modern manufacturing technology such as Computer Aided Design and Additive Manufacturing with a traditional belief that things should still be made in America, made to last, and made to high quality standards.

Have an idea for something you think we should offer? We would love to hear from you.
