Xyratex introduces the OneStor 2584 a new ultra dense architecture that improves rack utilization by as much as 67% giving up to two petabytes of storage in a standard data center rack using today’s 3TB drives. OneStor 2584 supports up to 84 SAS or SATA 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch hard disk or solid state drives in 5U (8 ¾ inches) of standard rack space, leverages the standard OneStor modular SBB form factor for I/O modules or embedded server modules, reduces cable complexity for greater serviceability and availability of rack scale solutions and includes a unified enclosure management system.
Ultra Dense Modular Storage Enclosure:
OneStor SP-2584 is the ultra dense modular storage enclosure variant using single or dual 6Gb/s SAS I/O modules. Inclusion of the 6Gb/s I/O module offers support and capabilities for longer cable lengths, active cables, universal ports, self configuration and standardized zoning. Xyratex supports 6Gb/s SAS in end-to-end configurations providing an effective maximum throughput of 7.2 GB/s per I/O module or 14.4 GB/s in a dual module configuration.
Robust System Management:
OneStor SP-2584 includes Xyratex’s Unified System Management (USM), providing a standard SES-2 interface for access to enclosure management services to provide enterprise level reliability, availability and serviceability. USM capabilities are available across the OneStor family of products allowing OEMs to design management and diagnostic systems that are universal across their product lines. This simplifies development and testing and enables OEMs to quickly bring new storage solutions to market.
USM is embedded software that is tightly coupled to the OneStor hardware, enabling high availability features such as dual redundant PSUs, N+1 cooling modules, dual I/O modules and dual data paths to all drives. With USM, OEMs can build enterprise class storage solutions that include persistent error logging, monitoring, rich fault diagnosis and resolution capabilities.

individual drive power control, advanced adaptive cooling technology and 80 PLUS® Gold Certified PSUs that are 92% efficient at 50% load. Additionally, OneStor SP-2584 is designed to meet or exceed stringent worldwide requirements for recycling and environmental friendliness.
