Navette à encens en laiton, XVIe siècle  ♦  Brass incense boat, 16th century

Reposant sur un piédouche à gradins, cette navette prend la forme d'un ovale. Le couvercle à ouverture symétrique est légèrement galbé. Texturé de petits points, il s'orne d'un décor repoussé de grandes fleurs de lys inscrites dans un losange, et une frise godronnée habille le pourtour. La partie mobile du couvercle est agrémenté d'une prise en forme de petit lion.

Bon état général. La partie mobile du couvercle est un peu déformée et montre deux petites fissures au niveau de la charnière (voir photos). L'ensemble est néanmoins solide.

Set on a stepped foot, this incense boat is oval shaped. The symmetrical opening lid is slightly curved. Textured with tiny dots, it is ornamented with large fleur-de-lys inscribed in rhombuses pattern, and a swelled frieze runs on the edge. The mobile part of the lid is equiped with a lion shaped little handle.

Good condition. The mobile part of the lid is a little bit out of shape, and reveals two slight fissures near the hinge. The whole thing is solid nonetheless.
