Chinese Han Style soft stone carving of a  dignitary riding in a horse drawn cart  attended by a  female groom. Carved from one piece of mottled grayish/ putty colored stone- possibly soapstone can be scratched with a steel tip-  23 inches long; 11.5  inches high and 5.5 inches wide . Has a monumental feel and weighs almost 48 lbs. decorated with cloud scrolls on the cart, and flower heads on the horse trappings, the dignitary seated wearing a headdress and long robes. I do not know when it was made and it is primarily decorative but it appears to have vintage age. I have owned it almost twenty-five years.
There are  old restored breaks in the rein held by the female attendant and her left lower arm is restock. There are restored breaks  on both cart side  rails near the horse’s haunches.  There is  restoration on edges of base.  This work of art was  purchased at a well- regarded Connecticut Antiques Gallery in the late 90’s. Have priced for  regular USPS parcel select  ground 2- 8 business days (not Priority) to keep shipping costs lower.
