1939 UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD Pin/Badge TREASURE ISLAND SPECIAL-Nurse Stewardess?

DIMENSIONS:

1 1/8" diameter.
Total weight:  9.1 grams.

DESCRIPTION:

Vintage Chicago & North Western - Union Pacific - Southern Pacific Railroad badge/pin/emblem.

Round emblem, slightly convex.  "Treasure Island Special" with Golden Gate International Exposition (1939-1940) imagery logo.  Gold plated metal with blue champlevé enamel.  Hinged pin back with safety catch.  All original.

The Treasure Island Special operated May 1939 to September 1940 servicing the 1939-1940 San Francisco World’s Fair.

Marker's marks:  none.

Circa 1939.  USA.

I believe this pin is rare (I have not been able to find any other examples).  I believe it is a uniform badge/pin of some type that would have been worn by some personnel on the Treasure Island Special  --  possibly by a nurse stewardess as a hat badge or large lapel pin.  Unfortunately I have not been able to find any photos of railroad personnel specifically associated with the Treasure Island Special.

See my other listings for three more pre war Union Pacific Railroad pins (see last photo -- I recently bought these 4 pins together and I suspect they may have originally belonged to one person.)

CONDITION:

Generally in very good original condition.  No damage and no significant wear.  No repairs.

Used but not abused.

No bends, breaks, cracks, dents, scuffs.  No significant rubs or scratches.  No corrosion or significant oxidation.  No losses to the enamel.  No stains or discolorations.

The hinged pin and catch are in excellent condition with no issues.

Some typical light use- and/or storage-related wear:  scattered superficial rubs and scratches;  one small ding to the back edge.   Nothing significant or conspicuous.  See photos.

Old patina as found.
