Cover art by Barbelle shows musical notes on eachj side and a lit of titles part of the publisher’s “Popular and Standard Song Successes” catalog. Ethel Waters introduced the song in a '27 Broadway revue called AFRICANA. Composer Pinkard was an African American born in 1897 in West Virginia and is best down for writing the music to "Sweet Georgia brown" in 1928. The song was a popular dance band piece in the 20s and recorded by Jean Goldkette’s Orchestra, Paul Tremaine & his Aristocrats, and more.
