90s SWID POWELL Ceramic Large Canister/Cookie Jar-DOTS-Rady&Mizuno-Post Modern-EX!

Without lid:  7 1/4" tall x 7 1/4" diam.  

Lid alone:  2 1/2" tall x 7 1/2" diam.  

Weight:  3 lbs., 9 ounces.

DESCRIPTION:

Vintage cookie jar or large canister in Post Modern style.

Designed by ELSA RADY (American, 1943–2011) and MINEO MIZUNO (American, born Japan 1944) for SWID POWELL.  "Dots" pattern.  Black and white glazed ceramic.  Under glaze screen printed decoration of smudged black dots on a white ground.  (Elsewhere I have seen this described as an over-glaze decoration but it sure looks to be under the glaze to me.)    

Markings:  "© Swid Powell - Rady & Mizuno - 'Dots' - Made in Japan".  

Mid 1990s I believe.  Japan.    

All sides are represented in the photos.

CONDITION:

Excellent original condition.  No damage.  No wear to speak of.  No restorations / repairs.

Looks virtually unused.

No nicks, chips, fleabites, cracks, dings, scuffs, bruises, scratches, rubs.  No stains, discolorations, scale, residue.  No wear to the decoration.  Any appearance otherwise is due to reflections.

No crazing.

Very clean as found, inside and out (other than a small circular spot of adhesive residue on the bottom edge of the canister -- left from an old felt protective pad.)
