Offering a fascinating shadow box / diorama with a delightful and well appointed scene.

This wood cased box has a glass front that swings completely open so you can organize pieces (although most of them are glued down). The box measures 17.5" X 11.5" X 5".

The scene inside is fun. It features a diamond necklaced and crowned Queen Victoria, throwing down her playing cards in disgust. In one hand is a feather fan and in front of the Queen is a set tea table with metal teapot, tray, cream and sugar.

There is a picture of Aiice in Wonderland on the wall behind her and, on the other side of a huge glass mirror is a picture of TweedleDum and Tweedledee. Outside the window, beyond the curtains can be see a drawing of the White Rabbit hurrying while looking at his pocket watch. All walls are wallpapered.

The mirror is real glass. There is a fireplace with andirons, gate and fire tools. A wood croquet set stands next to her armchair and foot stool. A kitten plays with a ball of twine.

There are ceramics and a clock on the mantle piece.

Queen Victoria stands 5 ½” tall and her base was hand signed by William S. Jones year 1978.
