INDIAN Plantain / Plantago Arenaria
Annual herb 15-30 cm high; rough due to short hairs. The stem is leafy, branched, erect or prostrate, in the axils of the lower leaves there are shortened branches in the form of a bunch of leaves. Leaves are opposite, narrowly linear, usually entire, without petioles. The flowers are small, inconspicuous, bisexual, collected in dense spike-shaped inflorescences (from spherical to oblong), located in umbrellas on the tops of stems and branches. The corolla is dry, filmy, whitish, with a four-part bend.
The fruit is a two-celled capsule that opens with a lid. Plantain blooms in June-July. It grows on sands (roadsides of country and forest roads, sandy river banks, forest glades in forests, wastelands, pastures, etc.).
Healing action and application:
With the help of medicines made from plantain, many human diseases are treated. They are used for diseases of the abdominal organs: Botkin's disease, inflammation of the small and large intestines, inflammation of the gallbladder and various kidney diseases. Plantain preparations are also used to treat skin diseases.
