Asters were named after the Greek goddess, which makes this variety stand out from the rest. It is noticeably different in appearance: it features broad ribbon-like lingual flowers, curling locally at the ends. The picture is completed by the dark purple color of the flower.
One of the features is also that the Athena variety of asters has no smell. This makes them an ideal gift for people who suffer from allergies.
