An important letter with great baseball content, just after Simmons was injured while sliding into third base. In a critical game against Washington during the 1930 season.
This letter is from that very point in Simmon's career, with Bucketfoot actually referring to his injury and lamenting "I hurt my knee sliding into third Decoration Day and ruptured a blood vessel and I'll know definitely how long I am to stay here, this afternoon when the doctor gets around and takes off the bandage, but I have the utmost confidence and feel like I'll be O.K. …"
Simmons also lamented "… instead of helping my teammates win ball games out on the field, I'm here on my back …" A quote no doubt most professional baseball players can relate to!
