Small volume, 4 1/2 x 6 3/4", green cloth with rubbing to edges, some creasing to rear cover, light soiling, but generally clean; gilt stamping on front cover and spine still bright with light rubbing only. Well bound, covers firmly attached. Free of markings pages generally lightly foxed, however the title page is fine---very clean and printed in red and black ink; with tissue guard for facing frontispiece, illustration of Grenoble, also clean. 144 pages. Preface is dated Jan. 1869. Introduction by Blanche Gamond. Graded Good plus. Uncommon title and by this publisher, in the original antiquarian edition circa 1875.. 

Publisher: Henry Hoyt was a publisher and bookseller at No. 9 Cornhill, Boston, Massachusetts, active from 1850 until 1876. He specialized in juvenile and popular religious works, such as the Sunday School Journal and the Child's Companion and Youth's Friend. The firm was eventually succeeded at the same location by Ira Bradley & Co., which became Bradley & Woodruff.
