Beautiful engravings with watercolors by the talented French naturalist and illustrator Paul-Louis Oudart.

Oudart was born in Paris in 1796 and was a French natural history artist, best known for his Natural History illustrations, who worked with the renowned naturalist Veillot.

Oudart also illustrated some of the most important publications by the leading French scholars of the day, portraying new species from the Americas, Africa, Asia and Australia.

Oudart contributed as main artist on borad to:

Louis de Freycinet's Voyage autour du monde,

Jules Dumont d'Urville's Voyage au pole sud et dans l'Océanie;

Abel Aubert Dupetit-Thouars Voyage autour du monde;
