Account of Lord Dufferin's youthful adventures in the North Atlantic in 1856, during which he visited Reykjavik and the Great Geysir, sailed close to Jan Mayen Island, and travelled to Hammerfest in Norway and to Spitzbergen. Composed in the form of letters to his mother, irreverent in style and lively in pace, the work was extremely successful.One of the most noted diplomats of his day, Dufferin (1826-1902) served both as Governor General of Canada and Viceroy of India.

Bookplate to the front. Text block firm, all pages, plates and maps present. light marks to the pages, the leafs a little 'rippled' [no evidence of any damp staining though, please see photos]. some browning to the edges.
