This is a polished Thunderegg half,

originating from Baker Ranck in Demming, New Mexico.

In the center is a beautiful agate

in different shades of brown,

surrounded by a crystal ring and an unusual, multicolored matrix.

Thunder Eggs find their origin in lava flows from volcanic eruptions. Then, as the lava cooled, lava shells formed around gas bubbles. After these shells cooled, cracks formed and the gases were able to escape. Silicate liquids, enriched with trace elements and impurities, penetrated into the cavities. The enrichments sealed the cracks and formed the magical Thundereggs.

Thunderegg is an American name for these stones, which are the subject of several legends. To see the Thunderegg's true beauty, they must be processed: cut in half and polished to reveal the inner core, or polished on the outside.
