How do Acoustic Panels Work?

Does your home theatre or listening room suffer from echoes that muddy up the clarity of your music or movies, and the performance of your speakers? Acoustic panels attenuate rogue sonic reflections in a room, resulting in a clearer sound. They achieve this by allowing sound to pass through them, reflect off the wall behind, and then pass through them again. Each time the sound passes through the panel, it is attenuated.

Fabric Wrapped Fibreglass

Throw away your egg cartons and invest in an acoustic treatment solution that will do your room justice, both sonically and visually. This acoustic treatment panel is made with thick, dense fibreglass, which is several times as dense as typical sound foam. This means that sound energy is more effectively attenuated by this fibreglass panel.

As well as performing better, this panel looks much better than many common acoustic treatment solutions. Wrapped in coloured fabric and featuring a bevelled edge and flat face, this fibreglass panel is the ideal solution for modern studios or theatres, and will also look great in office spaces, gyms, restaurants, and any other space where good acoustics are required.

Fixing Clips Included

This lightweight fibreglass panel includes a set of fixing clips for mounting to a wall. Simply fix the clips to the wall and hook the panel on by impaling it on the clips. The specially designed fixing clips position the panel flush against the wall for a visually neat and unobtrusive acoustic treatment solution.

1. This fixing clip will arrive with the teeth pushed in to avoid damage in transit.

2. Use the second mounting clip or a screwdriver to open up the teeth to the correct angle.

3. You will need to open the teeth up to a 45-degree angle before mounting the clip to the wall.

These clips allow you to easily set up an acoustic treatment solution with minimal damage to the walls or the panels.

Creative Installation

Install straight or at an angle, you can get creative with how you treat your room and create patterns with a set of panels. The hooked fixing clips allow you to align the panel however you like. Improving your room's acoustics is as simple as that!

There are plenty of guides online that will tell you the best way to install acoustic panels, but each room is different in size and dimensions, and therefore, will have different needs. The best place to start is by addressing the first reflections in the room since these reflections will be the most intense. The first reflection point is the mirror point between a loudspeaker and your listening position. These are on the two walls on either side of the main speakers.

Soundproofing?

Please note that acoustic panels are designed for improving the acoustics within a room; they are not effective for removing outside noise or isolating a room.

Please note:

Upon first unpacking your fibreglass panels you may notice a slight odour from the manufacturing process. Rest assured this smell will dissipate after a few days when left in a well-ventilated area.
