Thomas Campbell (27 July 1777 – 15 June 1844) was a Scottish poet. He was a founder and the first President of the Clarence Club and a co-founder of the Literary Association of the Friends of Poland; he was also one of the initiators of a plan to found what became University College London. In 1799 he wrote "The Pleasures of Hope", a traditional 18th-century didactic poem in heroic couplets. He also produced several stirring patriotic war songs—"Ye Mariners of England", "The Soldier's Dream", "Hohenlinden" and, in 1801, "The Battle of the Baltic".

**Beautifully bound in a period full green Morocco binding with gilt stamp inlaid decoration and borders to both boards. The spine in gilt compartments with gilt titles. Full page edges in gilt.

Condition: Please see photographs as part of condition report: Green Moroccan Binding with Gold Gilt Decoration and 5 Raised Bands and Gold Gilt Title To Spine, extremities rubbed, marks to binding, upper front hinge starting, pages have heavy spotting/foxing along with occasional marks, there is browning to margins, the binding is tight and the text block remains firm, there is however splits to gutter between pages 90-91 and 142-143, there is also some offsetting to pages, but the text block remains intact apart from these flaws.
