Blade was born half a vampire, when his mother was fatally bitten by the powerful vampire, Deacon Frost. This has given him superhuman strength, speed, endurance, agility, reflexes and extraordinary senses. However, these skills come with great weakness, their thirst for blood.

Blade also has a healing factor, but this does not delay its aging. Unlike the rest of the vampire community, you can walk in the sunlight, although it causes you some discomfort and you should wear sunglasses. Because of this rare ability, he is known as the Daywalker. He is a martial arts master and his long-time friend, Whistler, helps him in his quest. This comrade-in-arms has created an arsenal of weaponry for Blade ranging from his acid-engraved titanium sword and guja to a MAC-10 automatic pistol. Blade can speak Czech, Russian and, of course, the vampire language.
