Artists and Engravers: Made by 'J. Houbraken' after 'Arthur Pond'. Jakob Houbraken (1698-1780) was a very productive Dutch 18th. Century engraver, who produced a great number of book-illustrations in the taste of the time. He also engraved many portraits and some prints after contemporary masters. Arthur Pond (c. 1705-1758) was an English painter, engraver, collector and art dealer. He was a pupil of Vanderhanc in London and the went to Italy where he worked after old masters. He was most succesful as a portrait painter.
