Molon Labe Coin

Molon Labe (in Greek script, ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛABE), is used by a number of military units worldwide, including both American and - naturally - Greek military forces. The phrase roughly translates to "come and get them," with the implied meaning being a taunting reply to an order to surrender arms, and which is a classical expression of defiance.

When the Persians told the Spartans to lay down their arms at Thermopylae, the Spartans defiantly and suicidally replied “Come and take them.”

The phrase is attributed to Leonidas I of Sparta, the king who famously marched 300 Spartans to Thermopylae (the "Hot Gates") in or around 480 BC during the Greco-Persian Wars.

Molon Labe has been repeated by many later generals and politicians to express an army's or nation's determination not to surrender.

These two small words hold a significant amount of meaning to the people who adopt them. They can invigorate the morale of soldiers, patriots, and even athletes. Also, they are a symbol of independence, freedom, and choice. Finally, they serve as a warning to any opposing force that challenges our beliefs or determination that we will prevail with integrity, honor, and virtue.

This coin is the perfect one for you if you are passionate about defying odds and going above and beyond your self-imposed limitations. A challenge coin with a great piece of writing that is short and compelling, and is backed up by plenty of excellent history.
