The Effects of Nuclear War, Issued by the Office of Technology Assessment, in response to a request by the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations with respect to the impact of such a war on the economies and populations of the United States and the (former) Soviet Union.

An interesting part of this book is that the Office of Technology Assessment saw fit to include a fictional narrative of what would happen to a small town in America in the event of a full scale nuclear war with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.  Coming a full 20 years after Pat Frank published “Alas, Babylon,” the first post-apocalyptic novel of nuclear war, and a year after Stephen King published “The Stand,”  I can’t help but wonder what would happen today.
