Antique Oak Fire Screen with Embroidered Switzerland Badges Around Skiing Scene

This is an Antique Oak Fire Screen with Embroidered Switzerland Badges Around Skiing Scene. This is in excellent condition. The fire screen is made from oak with a beautiful honey coloured finish and a darker grain. It has acquired a patina through time and use, which enhances the appearance of the fire screen. The panel has a needlework hand-embroidered design of skis, slopes, a flower, a flag and a hockey stick. Around this are Switzerland badges of Zurich, Luzern, Brunig, Meiringen, Brienz, Grindelwald-First, Bern, Rhonegletscher, Stanserhorn, Andermatt, RiGi, Engelberg, Basel and in the centre is a Scweizer Skischule badge. The embroidery shows a great amount of detail and techniques, which gives a lovely finish. The needlework and badges have a glass covering, which is intact and in excellent condition. It stands on wedged legs at each end. The backing of the fire screen has a wooden panel held into place with small levers. This will make an excellent addition to the home.
