194th FIS California ANG F-106A Model

The 194th Fighter Squadron was activated and allotted to the California Air National Guard on May 24th, 1946. It was recognized by the National Guard Bureau on June 25th, 1948, and was equipped with F-51D Mustangs and assigned to the CA ANG 144th Fighter Group. During the Korean War, the F-51Ds were exchanged for F-51H Mustangs in 1951. In 1954, the squadron upgraded to the F-86A Sabre Day Interceptor, and in 1958, transitioned to the F-86L Sabre Interceptor. The F-86L was flown until 1964, when the unit transitioned to the F-102. In 1974, the unit transitioned to the F-106 and flew it until 1983. In 1984, the unit transitioned to the F-4D Phantom IIs for the air defense interceptor mission.
