During the 19th century, Victorian Grand Tour Period there were not enough paintings, sculptures and examples of early armor to satisfy all the Victorian collectors. It allowed craftsmen to make handmade copies of museum copies and rare items for a reasonable price. Tonight we will be listing three examples of hand forged, Helmets made by a true armorer and craftsman and all three auctions are listed without any reserve. … This first, hand forged helmet is after an English Civil War Lobster Tail Pot Helmet, which was also used in the Dutch 40yr War. The bottom sections measures 12 inches from front to back by 10 ½” inches wide, at the middle and the overall height is 12 inches. The iron has a wonderful antique patina and there are no problems or any restorations.
