The poster is one of the most lively and, at the same time, the most complex areas in graphic design, in art. The Soviet poster is a truly unique phenomenon, and in different years the authors of famous posters were outstanding Soviet artists, leading people of their time.

The best artists of their time worked on propaganda posters, famous poets wrote slogans - thus, unique graphic schools were formed. Nowhere in the world did they teach the poster purposefully and systematically, as it was in the USSR.

Rare Soviet posters today have to be searched for in different countries of the world. It's a paradox, but what was created in only a few copies and is known only to collectors is sometimes easier to find than what was produced in thousands of copies. Of the millions of campaign posters that have adorned the streets, classrooms, classrooms and hospital corridors for many decades, only a few have survived.

Posters of the Soviet era are not only original works of graphic art, antiques and antique graphics, original retro gifts and interior items, but also truly historical documents.

THE PAINTER IS  

Abramov Mark Alexandrovich (1913–1994)

Famous Soviet graphic artist, poster artist. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR (1964). People's Artist of the RSFSR.

He studied at the Moscow Civil Engineering Institute (MISI) in 1931–1936. In the 1930s, together with his brother Oleg, he made cartoons (signed by MOA) for the newspapers Bezbozhnik and Rabochaya Moskva, and the Searchlight magazine.

From 1932, he drew political cartoons for the Moscow magazines Krokodil, Ogonyok, Izvestiya, Literaturnaya Gazeta, and other publications. Participated in exhibitions since 1934. Author of graphic albums “They are without a mask”, “Satire”, “Satire on the enemies of the world”, “Colonialists out!” (together with A. Bazhenov), "Be on the alert."

Mark Abramov's posters are notable for their unusual sharpness and expressiveness, their plots and themes are somewhat provocative. Author of posters: “Adolf Hitler” (1965), “Their “freedoms” and “rights”” (1977), “The Constitution of the USSR - ice would bind everything, but the rays of the sun are bright, hot!” (1977, together with V. Lukyants), "No to the neutron bomb!" (1978), "USSR proposal for mutual renunciation of neutron weapons" (1979), "No to NATO's dangerous plans!" (1980), "Economy of the USSR 1981–1985" (1981), "This list of service records is the glory of the native army" (1983), "Terrorism" (1983), "Crisis" (1984), "Drunkenness is disgusting" (1985 ). Many of them were carried out jointly with Vladimir Dobrovolsky (“Record of the Soviet Army”, 1965; “Master of the State”, 1977; “We are keeping the course of the world! They want to inflate the war ...” (1981), “The main directions of economic and social development of the USSR for 1981-1985", 1981; "To the parliaments and peoples of the world", 1982).

He worked in collaboration with his son, artist Andrey Abramov (A. Andreev, graphic artist, poster artist, political advertising specialist). Author of posters such as "The Pentagon's New Year's Gift" (1983). Mark Abramov was also a talented columnist, a specialist who understands the intricacies of international politics, visited more than 50 countries. From these trips, he brought materials for the creation of the albums "Yesterday on the Rhine", "The face and inside of the USA", "In the" free "world".

His newspaper, magazine drawings and posters were published in the form of albums (more than 30), and were also exhibited at exhibitions both domestically and internationally. He was called a thinking satirist, he invented plots for cartoons, drawings and posters himself, and during his fruitful creative life he created a huge number of works. He was awarded the medal "Fighter for Peace" and the Order of Friendship of Peoples. In 1988, the album "Mark Abramov" was released from the "Masters of Soviet Caricature" series.

The works of M. A. Abramov are in the Russian State Library (RSL), the Rybinsk State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve, the Yaroslavl State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum, the Astrakhan Museum-Reserve, KGIAMZ them. E. D. Felitsyna, the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve, the City Museum of Local Lore of the Miass City District, private Russian and foreign collections.
