The original photograph represents a fire brigade near their functioning fire engine in the wintertime to the best advantage. The composition of three firemen in uniforms with helmets two firemen in uniforms and two men in civilian’s clothes is very expressive. The motive appears to be the presentation of the fire brigade in the capital Sankt-Petersburg. The photograph's gist represents feelings of sentimental masculinity as an essence of the fire brigade in the wintertime.

Condition 

As a whole, the real condition of the photograph seems to appreciate good against its age. The small shabbiness seems to be on corners. There is writing in the Czech language «Petrograd’s fire brigade»  on the front at the left high corner and the date 1898 XII is on the backside. There are no visible stains on the front or on the backside. There is a bend to the left edge and a possible tear of the left high corner. There are no pinholes.
