CIVIL WAR Scenes Engraving(s)
BLOW-OUT OF LESS THAN PERFECT (but still nice) CIVIL WAR PRINTS
This SINGLE(1) double-sided page with wood-engraved illustrations is 125+ years old.
It is from "Frank Leslie's ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF THE CIVIL WAR"
(1895).
This is a single (1) two-sided wood engraving with both sides shown
Page is approx. 11 X 15"
SIDE
1: Rhode Island Regiments Embarking Providence for New York & Washington - (Corner bend)
SIDE 2: Battle of Belmont, MO - (Corner bend)
Print size is just at the limits of my scanner bed and the sides/bottoms may not be fully shown in the pictures.
These engravings are in very good condition, but have some small defects: the edges may have age toning, a few spots and scuffs, smudges, minor fold or crease, very minor edge cuts -- all minor aging & handling faults. See photo(s)
This is an original 1895 engraving, not a modern reproduction, from the original Leslie wood blocks used in the weekly newspaper.
The illustrations are based on artist's sketches made at the scene during the Civil War.
These engravings are just beautifully detailed. Note: The pictures can introduce some weird patterns not in the actual prints.
The print is on double-sided paper
The pictures do not capture all of the detail in the engravings.
Due to large size, this print must be shipped rolled in a large mailing tube. BUY ADDITIONAL CIVIL WAR ENGRAVINGS AND SAVE ON P/H...if they can be mailed together).
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE SCANS/PHOTOS OF WOOD LINE ENGRAVINGS MAY PRODUCE STRIPES and FRINGE ARTIFACTS THAT ARE NOT PRESENT IN THE ACTUAL ENGRAVING FOR SALE.
