Description:
In the first days of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, the cities of Kyiv region bore the brunt of the enemy's attack on the capital of Ukraine. Civilians faced inhuman cruelty and arbitrariness of the occupiers: the massacre of civilians in Bucha, accompanied by torture and rape, was called the Bucha Massacre. On the margins of the block, a panoramic photo of Irpin demonstrates the extent of the destruction of these cities. The block's postage stamps feature documentary photos of a destroyed convoy of enemy vehicles on Vokzalna Street in Bucha, a crossing of the Irpin River, which was the main evacuation route for civilians, and picture the world's largest transport aircraft, the AN-225 Mriya, destroyed by the enemy at the airfield in Hostomel.  In March 2022, 10 Ukrainian cities, including Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel, were awarded the honorary distinction of "Hero City of Ukraine."
