The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien with new artwork. Includes The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. 3-volume paperback set Morrow, 2023. As new in paperback slipcase. Only The Fellowship of the Ring has a tiny ding to one corner, else a perfect unread set.

Despite popular misconception The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien is not a trilogy but simply a very long novel issued in three parts as separate volumes, first published by Allen & Unwin UK and Houghton Mifflin US in 1955-56. All books are fine in fine dust jackets.

Edition Information: "The Lord of the Rings", essentially one long novel issued in three parts, was a kind of sequel to "The Hobbit" (1937). It was first published in the US and UK in 1955-6. First printing copies of the first UK edition can run upwards of $25,000 and the first US edition upwards of $12,000. Alan Lee began contributing new cover artwork to editions issue in the late 1980's, and eventually some of his artwork would influence "The Lord of the Rings" film series directed by Peter Jackson.

NOTE on USPS Shipping: Media mail $6.50, priority mail $9.50 (recommended if there is a time deadline), $42.50 international. I tend to ship on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays sometimes on Friday. I do not ship on Mondays and Saturdays. NOTE: Australian customers: USPS is restricting packages sent to Australia by express mail only. Please contact me if you live in Australia and I can quote you a price, which will probably be around $200 US.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All sales are generally FINAL. I do NOT accept returns because of buyer's remorse, "it was a gift but the recipient already had it", or "I found the same book at a better price". I am not selling new items to compete with other retailers. Returns are only accepted because of discrepancies regarding edition and/or condition of which I try to be very thorough in researching the edition/printing as well as describing ALL condition issues, both of which are accurate 99.99% of the time. In other words I rarely miss anything. So make sure you're 100% positive you desire one of my items before making a purchase.

NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.

ALSO: The pictures are of the actual item for sale. (The pictures are NOT stock photos.)

NOTE on FEEDBACK: If you have problem with an order for any reason, please contact me before leaving feedback! 99% of the time we can resolve the problem. It is much more difficult to change feedback once left.
A Word on First Editions: 95% of my offerings are trade editions, and 90% of those are first printings. In general I do NOT sell bookclub editions or cheap reprints like Modern Library except in rare instances which would be explicitly stated as such. In general, I also DO NOT sell x-library copies.
If the book is both a first edition AND a first printing, it will be marked as “first edition” in the Item Specifics under “Special Attributes”, otherwise assume a later printing or a later edition.
NOTE on USPS Shipping: The US Post has graciously increased their rates! I ship on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays sometimes on Friday. I do not ship on Mondays and Saturdays.

ATTENTION Canadian and International customers: $120 international priority mail with required tracking. There may be a delay, sometimes an additional 1 to 8 weeks, if your package is inspected by your country's custom's inspectors. I cannot be responsible (and I have no control over) delays due to customs inspections. It is best to find out your country's policies in this regard.

Any further questions, please email me. I try my very best to accurately describe condition. Disputes in condition of items must be resolved within 30 days of shipment of item.
