Released in 1991, The Grand Leveller would serve as the sophomore full-length from Birmingham death metal legends Benediction, whilst ushering in the arrival of vocalist Dave Ingram following the departure of Barney Greenway (who would leave to solely focus on the still very active Napalm Death). Featuring a much more refined and focused brutal sonic assault than their preceding 1990 debut Subconscious Terror, the album is perceived by many to mark the true arrival of the Benediction we all still hold in such high regard to this day, while Ingram would eventually go on to takeover vocal duties for the even more renowned UK extreme metal titans Bolt Thrower.
