In honor of the Rio Olympics, I am currently offering my personal collection of Brazilian Maps, Prints, Art and Photographs. Since 1989, I have made numerous trips to diverse parts of Brazil, Researching, Collecting and Photographing Brazil and its Architecture for a Ph.D in Art History, completed in 2000 at the University of Missouri.

An Authetic Antique Map: Not a Modern Reproduction

Description:  It is an authentic copper plate engraved map over 230 years old. It is by John Sherwin as stated on the print. It is from Millar's New Complete and Universal System of Geography (London: A Hogg, 1782). View of Salvador do Bahia in Brazil.  

Size: The map image between the neat lines measures approximately 7 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches (19x29cm) on a 9 by 14 1/2" (23x37cm) page with a margin all around for matting.

Condition: It is in Very Good to Exellent condition for its age, blank on reverse with the plate marks visible in the margins. Overall it is a very beautiful map, nicely rubbed up, embossed plate marks in the margin and some edgewear and very minor creasing on the binding edge. It is very clean, printed on strong cotton paper of the period, see the pics for more on condition. The pics are of the actual map.
