Introduction to the bottom article: Xu Hantang, born on May 11, 1932 in Yixing, Jiangsu, is a master of Chinese arts and crafts. He has won the "Lifetime Achievement Award for Chinese Arts and Crafts" and is the only person in the purple sand industry in China to receive this honor. [1]
After graduating from junior high school in 1948, he studied art with his parents. In 1952, he learned from Gu Jingzhou, a contemporary purple clay magnate, and became the first disciple of Gu Jingzhou. In 1972, Xu Hantang and his brother Xu Xiutang designed a set of "fifteen silver inlaid coffee sets", which were collected by the Palace Museum. In 2014, the Education Foundation, named after Xu Hantang's donation of 10 million yuan, was officially established. In November 2017, the authorization ceremony for the production of the purple clay teapot "Palace Pot" designed by Ji Hansheng was held in Fanjia Pot Village, Yixing. Fan Xiuhong, the grandson of Fan Dasheng, became the only authorized person to produce the "Palace Pot", and Xu Hantang, the Chinese master of arts and crafts, provided artistic guidance for the production.
