~ ideal for a time-touched interior!! So much fabric for many projects ~*~A Beautiful antique French ticking piece dating from the early 1900's. Gently and very unevenly faded unevenly with time, making this piece time-touched and ideal for period interiors ~~ This textile was once mattress cover, and it was stuffed with feathers. There is a residue of down remaining the inside , so please expect tiny feathers in your parcel! This piece can either be kept as is or the seams on the sides opened out and then used for upholstery projects etc! I This is a medium to heavy weight cotton and linen fabric with a twill weave and would be stunning used for upholstery, pillows and many other creative projects. ~*~ As genuine as they get! ~*~ ~*~ Ideal for adding that wonderful, authentic vintage look to any interior

MEASUREMENTS : This ticking piece measures approx. 37 inches wide by 72 inches long. ( so, when opened out , it will measure 37 inches wide by 144 inches long ~*~

CONDITION : I've freshly laundered this lovely piece . There are still feathers clinging to the inside ( on the back of the fabric ) . There are some marks, some uneven fading, some dye transfer from the body to the cream stripes! There are some water marks too ~ Nothing perfect about this piece, other than the way it will add vintage charm to any interior! ~*~ ( condition reflected in the price)

*The Word ticking is derived from the Latin word for case, Tica. Ticking fabric was used for creating mattress, as the European bedding system of old, consisted of many layers of textiles stuffed with straw and fodder at the bottom, and topped with a dense denim ( ticking) for the top layers, stuffed with feathers. The fabric came to be known as denim, as Nimes , France was one of the great producers of this ticking fabric...denim ( de Nimes! ) ~ a wonderful fabric for many projects. A wonderful, historical fabric.
