The USS George Washington (ID-3018) was a German ocean liner named SS George Washington that was seized by the United States after the country's entry into World War I. The ship was then converted into a troop transport vessel and commissioned as the USS George Washington in 1917. It was one of the first U.S. Navy ships to be fitted with oil-burning engines.

In 1918, President Woodrow Wilson decided to personally participate in the peace negotiations in Europe, aiming to establish his vision for a lasting post-war world order. To ensure his safety and facilitate his travel, the USS George Washington was assigned to transport him across the Atlantic.

President Wilson embarked on the USS George Washington in December 1918, accompanied by a delegation of American officials, including his closest advisor, Colonel Edward M. House. The ship set sail from the United States and arrived in Brest, France, in early 1919. From there, Wilson continued his journey to Paris, where he played a significant role in the negotiations that led to the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, which officially ended World War I.

After completing its historic voyage, the USS George Washington continued to serve as a troop transport ship during the war and was later decommissioned in 1921.
