A large 19th century French mechanical mantel clock by Louis-Frédéric Japy.
Japy Freres was a very large manufacturer of quality clock movements in the 19th century. George Frederic Japy (1749-1812) started a watchmaking dynasty. By 1810-1820, five sons had joined him in the family business: Fido, Charles, Frédéric-Guillaume, Louis-Frédéric and Jean-Pierre. In 1854, the company was renamed Japy Freres et Cie.
The mechanics are in excellent condition after the overhaul.
Half-hour and hour-long battle, works correctly and without any defects. The force of the hammer strike on the bell can be adjusted according to different preferences.
The case is carefully cleaned of dust and mud layers.
