2007 $100 Gold Coin 140thAnniversary of the Dominion of Canada

 

This design features elements that appear in the British North America Act passed by British Parliament on March 29, 1867 to create the Dominion of Canada.  The coat of arms featuring the lion and unicorn appears at the beginning of the Act while the text that follows is an excerpt from the first section of the document. Below are the shields of the four founding provinces: Ontario, Quebec,Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

 

This $100 coin is certified to be 14-karat gold with a weight of 12 grams and a diameter of 27 millimetres.  Engravers at the Royal Canadian Mint faithfully reproduced archival material to create this majestic composition in proof finish.  The obverse features the portrait to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by artist Susanna Blunt.

 

The enclosed Certificate of Authenticity attests that this 2007 gold coin was authorized by the government of Canada. It is proof quality and was expertly struck by the Royal Canadian Mint.
