  • One Leather Belt with 10 U.S. Silver Half Dollar Franklin Coins (50¢ piece) as Conchos
  • Inlaid Conchos Style on a Western Style Belt. NO Buckle is included.
  • Made in the USA
  • There's a funny pun about real coin belts When wearing the belt, it's circulated.  When not wearing the belt, it's uncirculated.
  • The belt is brown with black lacing.
  • The coins are authentic. There were reproductions of these belts made using fake coins.
  • The traditional belt size varies on the type of buckle used and whether or not holes need to be added.
  • With a Western Style Belt Buckle that adds about 2½ inches it should fit a 40 to 43½ inches waist. This is very approximate. Buckle not included.
  • The belt is 43 inches long from where the belt would hold the buckle to the first hole.
  • The belt measures approximately 46½ inches long by 1 7/8 inches (47 mm) wide by ¼ inch (6-7 mm) thick.
  • The belt tongue (the narrow part where the holes are, is about 1½ inches (38-39 mm) wide. Where it folds to hold the buckle is approximately 1½ inches (38 mm) wide.
  • There are 5 holes to catch the buckle hook. The first hole is 3¾  inches from the tip. The holes are roughly one inch apart.
  • CONDITION: circulated - belt is new old stock - coins are used
  • This belt has never been worn.
  • Scratches are common.
  • Coins were hand polished.
  • Part of the process involved spot heating the coins to attach rivets to make them inlaid.
  • Unique Pictures of the actual item available in this listing.
  • This belt and others like it were handmade. Redd's Leather Shop of Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California produced the belt. My Father and I acquired the coins and did the coin implants. We also made special leather working tools. Belts were sold at Knott's Berry Farm, coin dealers, and other jewelry stores throughout Southern California, Arizona, & New Mexico. We made them from about 1974 to about 1982. Some belts were pre-made and others were custom made with specific colors, design, leatherworking, and coin choices. Lots of hours of work went into the making of each belt. I am one of the original makers.
  • Using 1978 as an estimate of when the belt was made would make it approximately 40 years old. Of course the coins are much older.
  • All of the coins are the obverse side! You can not turn coins to see the other side. There are no Liberty Bell cracks showing on the belt.
  • Coins on this belt:
      1. 1952
      2. 1953
      3. 1954

    • More general FYI about the coins:
        • In general the Franklin half-dollar was minted from 1948 to 1963.
        • OBVERSE:
        • The obverse side is a Benjamin Franklin right-side bust portrait. Born on January 17, 1706 & died on April 17, 1790. On the Old-School Style Calendar he would have been born on January 6, 1705. England switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian calendar in 1752. The new year also moved from March 25 to January 1. A bit of stumping trivia: He was the first US Postmaster General and 6th President. Of course that is the 6th President of Pennsylvania, not the USA. He was an instigator during the Age of Enlightenment.
        • Obverse side text is: LIBERTY IN GOD WE TRUST
        • The designer of the obverse side was John Ray Sinnock born July 8, 1888 and died May 14, 1947.
        • REVERSE:
        • The reverse side, which cannot be seen on any of the coins on this specific belt, is the Liberty Bell.
        • Reverse sidetext is: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HALF DOLLAR •E•PLURIBUS UNUM (some Liberty Bell text too)
        • The designer of the reverse side was John Ray Sinnock born July 8, 1888 and died May 14, 1947.
        • E PLURIBUS UNUM translates from Latin to: Out of many, one - which was the common motto from the USA seal from the late 1700's until 1956 when the motto officially became In God We Trust. This coin bears both.i
